Module 4

Module 4
The idea is to tell a story through all the grades of the school. Inspired by the video by Sharo Hartle and www.makebeliefscomix.com , we will use a simple plot that answers to 4 simple questions: who, where, what’s the problem, what’s the solution.
It would give a simple but effective story like the comic strip created in the previous module.

The simple questions would be answered by the first graders maybe using their native language to help them to understand what to do (although the most of pedagogical approaches are against it some of them allow it ). Then, we would pass the story to the upper grades and they would wide the story according to their vocabulary and grammar knowledge. The use of native language would diminish. We could change the verb tenses, the text structure, add details...
BUT NOT CHANGE THE PLOT. It would be like an hypertext into which you can deep.
In order to allow all the students to participate, we form groups of four. We assign a number from one to four to each student of the group and each number is related to a question. In this way we are going to create as many stories as groups we have in the class. Then we form four groups according to the number they have been assigned to: the group of the number one, two, three or four. They explain each other others their story.
In order to make the student speak we can use these tools: Voicethread and Story creator .
Both allow to include audio recording as well as drawings, pictures, text, audio and video.
