Introduction and aim.
Hello everyone,
I would like to introduce a way to embellish anything we want to tell as well as share our stories with the entire world with the aid of the ICT.
So let's welcome in class,
Digital Storytelling
What is storytelling for you?
Storytelling is the oldest form of teaching. It bonded the early human communities, giving children the answers to the biggest questions of creation, life, and the afterlife. Stories define us, shape us, control us, and make us. Not every human culture in the world is literate, but every single culture tells stories.
2. why Digital Storytelling in class?
- can serve as an anticipatory set or hook to capture the attention of students and increasing their interest in exploring new ideas.
- may also be used to enhance current lessons within a larger unit, as a way to facilitate discussion about the topics presented in a story and as a way of making abstract or conceptual content more understandable.
- students who participate in the creation of digital stories may develop enhanced communications skills by learning to organize their ideas, ask questions, express opinions, and construct narratives.
- when digital stories are published online, students have the opportunity to share their work with their peers and gain valuable experience in critiquing their own and other students’ work, which can promote gains in emotional intelligence and social learning.
- Digital Storytelling appeals to students with diverse learning styles
- can also foster collaboration when students are able to work in groups.
- Raises the enthusiasm for reading texts to find stories, reread them, etc.
- Initiates writing because children will quickly want to write stories and tell them.
- Enhances the community in the room.
- Improves listening skills.
- Really engages the boys who love the acting.
- Is enjoyed by children from kindergarten to the end of elementary school.
- Gives a motivating reason for English-language learners to speak and write English.
- Recent studies have proven that stories can change perceptions and even make people more tolerant.
- Producing these stories develops critical thinking and writing skills.
- Digging up information about a topic and people to interview hones research skills.
- Reporting and conducting interviews helps develop public speaking and interpersonal skills.
- Allowing students to choose topics they're passionate about allows them to take ownership of their learning.
- Considering other perspectives and your work's impact on an audience helps address ethical decision making.
- Producing the stories develops collaboration and time-management skills.
- Stories can actually have an impact on students' communities and effect change
